Dear Parents/Carers

Early this morning the Government shared their list of Critical Workers for whose children schools should remain open.

This list is on the link below. It is broad and you should take time to check it carefully to understand if your role is considered critical to the Nation’s response to the virus. If one parent is classed as a critical worker, then you are entitled to send your children to school. The government guidance is that Many parents working in these critical sectors may be able to ensure their child is kept at home. Every child who can be safely cared for at home should be. This is an offer to parents and carers and there is no requirement for parents and carers to send their children to school if they do not need or wish to do so. Therefore, it is an offer but you may feel that you do not wish to utilise it.

If you are a critical worker, and you cannot keep your child safe at home whilst you are at work, please could you complete and return the attached form to us at school promptly so we can plan the level of provision we will need to have in place over these coming weeks. This will be regardless of whether you wish your child to come school or not.

I anticipate that we will support students to access the remote learning we are providing for all children but within school. There will be no normal lessons and the children will be clustered together in either an infant or a junior provision. However, this will depend entirely on numbers.

Once we have an accurate idea of numbers we can confirm what we will be offering. Please understand that the government expectation is that it is child care not education. We will do our best to ensure it is as educational as possible within the limits of our resources. If we are able to provide a dining hall service over this time it will be limited.

List of key workers can be found here;

The full government guidance concerning this can be found here;

We will be contacting families with children who fit the vulnerable learner’s category personally to establish if you will require the support of school. Many that we called yesterday did not want to take up this provision at the moment.

Click here to print off and complete this form. Please return this form to school by 4pm in order to ensure facilities can be provided. This form is required on entry to school on Monday morning for the children of our critical Keyforce to ensure eligibility .

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Norton
